Westport Hunter Pace

The thirteenth annual Westport Hunter Pace will take place on Sunday, October 29, 2023. Located at the corner of Horseneck Road and Fisherville Lane in Westport, MA, the pace will begin at 8:00 a.m. with the last rider out at 12:00 p.m. noon. All riders must enter and sign a Liability Waiver in advance of the event. Space is limited.

As in past years, the hunter pace course will offer 8 to 10 miles of terrain through open fields and wooded trails, most of which is usually not available to the general riding community. Spectacular views of the Westport River and historic farms may be enjoyed throughout the ride.

Teams of up to five rider/horse pairs compete in one of three divisions: first flight (jumping), second flight (flats) and hilltoppers (slower pace flats). All divisions encounter 20 or so inviting fences and stone walls not to exceed 3' 6" in height. A way around all obstacles is available to all riders. Riders in all divisions could go around jumps at their own discretion. ** Please note that riders under the age of 16 years-old must have an adult rider on their team** All riders must wear certified helmets and hard-soled shoes with heals.

The teams finishing closest to the pre-determined optimum time are awarded blue ribbons. Ribbons for 1st - 6th place.  Ribbons will be mailed to the address on the entry form.
